The 114th Western & Southern Thanksgiving Day Race, one of the oldest and largest 10k runs in the country – and a popular Cincinnati tradition – has undergone several changes this year to make it even bigger and better for the thousands of runners and walkers participating.
This year, the event features a brand new 10k course fully in Cincinnati and a memorable start and finish at TQL Stadium. A new, shorter race sponsored by Total Quality Logistics — the TQL 5k — offers the perfect distance for just about anyone looking to start their Thanksgiving morning with a brisk run or walk.
Charities from across the region – including the Alzheimer’s Association, Barrett Cancer Center at UC, Big Brothers Big Sisters, CancerFree Kids, Girls on the Run and Young Life – benefit tremendously from the anticipated 13,000+ runners and walkers who will brave the elements to participate this year.
Western & Southern has been the title sponsor of the Thanksgiving Day Race since 2013. The company also takes the opportunity to recognize family participation in the race with the annual Western & Southern Birds of a Feather Family Award.
"This is a wonderful Cincinnati tradition and just one more way we are all making Cincinnati great," said John F. Barrett, Western & Southern chairman, president and chief executive officer.
