Theresa Koester, M.D., associate medical director for Western & Southern Financial Group, has been appointed vice chair of the Board of Insurance Medicine, the board certifying body of the American Academy of Insurance Medicine. Her two-year term will end in 2023 when she will become the chair of the board.
As vice chair, Koester oversees examinations to determine the qualifications of candidates for certification in insurance medicine. She also reviews the exams on an annual basis to ensure they are applicable to current practices in medicine.
“This appointment to vice chair is a prestigious honor and recognition of Dr. Koester’s expertise as a clinician and member of the life insurance industry,” said Keith Clark, M.D., vice president and medical director at Western & Southern. “We are proud that she is playing a role in upholding the integrity of the practice of insurance medicine.”
Koester joined Western & Southern in 2010 as an associate medical director after gaining two decades of experience in medicine, including several years in private practice. She graduated from the University of Kentucky College of Medicine and completed her residency in internal medicine at Washington University in St. Louis.
