Ride Cincinnati, the city’s premier grassroots cycling fundraiser, begins on Saturday, Sept. 16. Over 500 riders, including 185 Western & Southern associates, family members and friends, will participate in the ride.
Western & Southern has been a proud supporter of Ride Cincinnati since the event’s beginning in 2007 with involvement from associates through volunteering, fundraising and riding. Western & Southern’s sponsorship is a key component of a larger effort to help the University of Cincinnati Barrett Cancer Center obtain a National Cancer Institute (NCI) designation.
“To build the kind of cancer center we want [and need] requires resources,” said Dr. William Barrett, Co-Director, University of Cincinnati Cancer Center; Medical Director, Barrett Cancer Center. “Corporate support helps us raise funds to pilot projects for cancer research, getting us closer to obtaining the designation.”
The 2023 event begins with a kick-off party at The Phelps Hotel on Saturday, Sept. 16. The ride departs on Sunday, Sept. 17, from Sawyer Point with routes ranging from 10 to 64 miles.
