The Western & Southern Open is once again shining a global spotlight on Greater Cincinnati, and Western & Southern Financial Group is proud to be the title sponsor for the 20th year – the longest title sponsorship of the nine worldwide prestigious ATP Masters 1000 events.
“The Western & Southern Open benefits the city in many ways,” said John F. Barrett, chairman, president and chief executive officer of Western & Southern Financial Group. “The wonderful attention it gives to Cincinnati as a big-time event, the great joy it brings to those who experience it, the annual economic impact in the region is substantial – roughly $70 million – and it enables local charitable contributions.”
The tournament has donated more than $11 million since 1974 to nonprofits such as Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center, the Barrett Cancer Center at the University of Cincinnati, and Tennis for City Youth. Western & Southern’s title sponsorship helps ensure that the tournament can continue these philanthropic endeavors.
“Western & Southern believes that if we are to have a vibrant headquarters with top-notch talent here, our community must grow and prosper,” said Barrett. “We want Cincinnati to be the best place to live, work and celebrate life. We believe that to achieve sustained growth, business leaders have to find ways to invest in the success of their communities and they have to create excitement among their associates while encouraging others to invest was well. And that’s what we strive to do.”
Hosted at the Lindner Family Tennis Center in Mason, Ohio, the event is the nation’s oldest professional tennis tournament still played in its original city.
