Western & Southern Financial Group has been supporting the Mercy Health Foundation for more than 30 years through the Dr. Charles M. Barrett Memorial Golf Outing. Typically held in October, the golf outing was cancelled this year due to the pandemic. However, in its place, the Mercy Health Foundation is holding a virtual event on November 12, “Together at a Distance,” which celebrates health care heroes.
“This event is so important because we want everyone serving on the frontlines to feel love, appreciation and support for all they do every day,” said John F. Barrett, chairman, president and CEO of Western & Southern. “We have a deep desire at Western and Southern to help make Cincinnati great in every way possible. Investing in the health of our community is vital to long-lasting, impactful change.”
Dr. Charles Barrett was John Barrett’s father, a physician and Western & Southern’s CEO from 1973-1988. He was the first physician hired at the old Mercy Hospital in Mariemont in the early 1940s. Since the first Dr. Charles M. Barrett Memorial Golf Outing held in 1990, Western & Southern – along with many other sponsors and participants – has helped raise more than $2 million to support Mercy Health.
“We are incredibly proud of the long partnership we have had with Mercy Health, and we look forward to continuing our relationship for years to come,” said Barrett.
