On July 19, 2018, the Western & Southern Open held a First Look Event to reveal to tournament partners and media the new South Building structure at the Lindner Family Tennis Center. The new five-story, 41,000-square-foot building at Center Court holds 804 seats and includes a second-floor restaurant and bar, which opens up to cascading indoor, air-conditioned box seats – the first such feature in professional tennis.
As we look forward to the start of the 2018 tournament, the Western & Southern Open just keeps getting better and better.
“As we look forward to the start of the 2018 tournament, the Western & Southern Open just keeps getting better and better. The new South Building is truly amazing, and the latest example of the work being done to make sure the fan experience is second to none,” said John F. Barrett, chairman, president and chief executive officer of Western & Southern Financial Group. “We are honored to be involved in something so right for Cincinnati … and for everyone who calls her home.”
Western & Southern has been the title sponsor of the Western & Southern Open for 17 years – the longest running title sponsorship of all the Masters 1000 tennis tournaments. When the Western & Southern Open was at risk of moving to a different city 17 years ago, Western & Southern realized that world-class tennis had tremendous potential for the Cincinnati region and stepped up to be title sponsor.
The tournament brings to our region 95 of the world’s top-ranked men and women players, along with 200,000 fans from across the U.S. and 35 countries. It reaches 52 million TV viewers worldwide in more than 160 countries.
“Today, Cincinnati is on the map on a global scale. Great things are happening all over, in part because of a shared vision to make Cincinnati great,” said Barrett.
