Millennial Minutes, presented by W&S Financial Group Distributors
Examines the Millennial mindset to help reps and consumers build future relationships based on better understanding.
Today's topic: A Portrait of Millennials.
Here's an interesting quote:
"Children now love luxury.
They often show disrespect for elders, and they love chatter in place of exercise."
Now what generation does this bring to mind?
Did you think Millennials?
Well, think again.
It dates back to a fourth century philosopher, one named Socrates.
It seems some things never change.
But even though similarities echo in how people view younger generations,
it's important to understand the differences too.
Doing so promotes a positive environment for generational understanding.
Let's look at some facts about the Millennial generation and see how they paint a portrait
that helps us understand this distinctive and increasingly consequential demographic.
Millennials are typically categorized as people born between the years of 1981 and 1996.
There are 72 million Millennials in America.
The group now outnumbers baby boomers as the largest living adult generation.
Millennials became the largest generation in the U.S. working world in the last decade.
In fact, they are part of a historic milestone with five generations now actively represented
in the nation's modern workforce all at once.
Each generation grows up shaped by unique experiences.
So each may have different needs and interests in a number of areas, including financial matters.
Understanding the uniqueness of generations is the first step to valuing it,
incorporating it into your thinking and experiencing shared success.
