Cincinnati Cancer Advisors (CCA) is pleased to announce that its first-ever “Bearcats & Musketeers vs. Cancer” golf outing and “19th Hole Celebration” benefiting cancer research at the University of Cincinnati’s Barrett Cancer Center, the undergraduate nursing program at Xavier University and CCA is approaching sellout levels pursuant to the support of several major sponsors.

The Presenting Sponsor for this first-of-its-kind, one-of-a-kind event, to be held on September 13th, 2021, at Cincinnati’s Maketewah Country Club, will be Western & Southern Financial Group, a Fortune 500 financial services company whose philanthropic contributions and civic involvement have been benefiting charitable causes for more than 130 years.

“We are pleased to be able to support these three great organizations and in doing so, we hope to advance cancer research and improve health care outcomes in our city,” said Western & Southern’s Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer, John F. Barrett.

The theme of this year’s event – which CCA anticipates being an annual event – pays homage to the intense rivalry between the University of Cincinnati and Xavier University, whose annual basketball game is a mainstay among the top rivalry games in the country each year.  In addition to Western & Southern’s support, the success of this first-year event has been further bolstered by the support of other title sponsors Cushman & Wakefield, Fort Washington Investment Advisors, Griffin Elite Sports & Wellness and Joseph Automotive Group, who will also sponsor an exciting hole-in-one contest featuring a luxury vehicle from one of their many auto dealerships in the Greater Cincinnati area.

“The idea behind this event is to harness the energy of this in-city rivalry by uniting the supporters of these two great schools to combat the common adversary of cancer – an enemy that still kills more than 600,000 Americans each year despite all of the advances that have been made,” said Cincinnati Cancer Advisors’ founder Dr. Bill Barrett.  “The city’s rapid embrace of this new event, which is now nearly sold out and is being supported by the efforts of nearly 40 volunteers, speaks volumes about why I believe Cincinnati can be, and is, the best city in the country to be if one must receive a cancer diagnosis.”

Combating cancer often requires a novel approach, and Cincinnati Cancer Advisors is taking a novel approach to this year’s event, featuring individual play and aggregate average scoring that will result in one of the two schools receiving the “Fore a Good Cause” trophy, which will be held by the winning school for as long as they maintain dominance over the event.  The winning team’s Most Valuable Golfer will receive a custom-made winner’s blazer created by Romualdo Sartoria, one of Greater Cincinnati’s most beloved custom tailors, while the player with the overall worst score will receive a much-needed package of golf lessons.  Other twists on traditional golf outing contests will be “Closest to the Pin (From the Sand Trap)” and “Biggest Choke,” with a prize awarded to the golfer that misses the closest-to-the-hole putt.

A few sponsorship opportunities and spots for individual play still remain.  To register for the event or to receive additional information, please visit www.bearcatsvsmusketeers.org or call Steve Abbott at (513) 731-CARE.  For more information about receiving a no-cost oncology second opinion from Cincinnati Cancer Advisors, Greater Cincinnati residents should send an email to information@cincinnaticanceradvisors.org or visit CCA’s website at https://www.cincinnaticanceradvisors.org.
