Ride Cincinnati, the city’s premier grassroots cycling fundraiser, has revealed its 2023-fundraising total – an event record-topping $1.5 million – raised for local cancer research and care. This brings the total to more than $8 million raised in the event’s 17-year history.
To continue the momentum into the new year, organizers have opened registration for the 2024 event, happening September 13-14, 2024. This year’s Ride departs from Sawyer Point in downtown Cincinnati and features five route options, 10, 15, 24, 36 and 64 miles, that will take all riders along the Ohio River via designated bike lanes and bike trails. Riders will also enjoy Ride’s popular kickoff and after parties, where they can mix and mingle with other riders. As always, all rider-raised dollars goes directly to life-saving cancer research and care in Greater Cincinnati.
“One in three women and one in two men will face cancer in their lifetimes. Unfortunately, that means that most people in our community will likely be touched by this disease,” said Western & Southern Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer John F. Barrett. “We owe it to our friends, neighbors and relatives to make Cincinnati the best place for cancer research, education and care. Thanks to events like Ride Cincinnati, this vision is closer to becoming a reality.”
“The outpouring of support from our community, donors and advocates exemplifies the collective commitment to making a meaningful impact in the fight against cancer,” said Dr. William Barrett, co-director of the University of Cincinnati Cancer Center and medical director of the UC Health Barrett Cancer Center. “Our University of Cincinnati Cancer Center teams are inspired by this support as we move forward in our mission to transform the landscape of cancer care.”
