Travis Schraffenberger, strategic marketing and communications vice president for IFS Financial Services, Inc. (IFS), a subsidiary of Western & Southern Financial Group (Western & Southern), has been named board chairman for the Cincinnati Scholarship Foundation (CSF).
Replacing outgoing chairman William Russell of the Public Employment Retirees, Inc., Schraffenberger has served since 2014 on the board of CSF, an organization that collaborates with dozens of foundations, businesses and individual donors to provide scholarships to college-bound students residing in the Greater Cincinnati area.
“Travis’s contribution to the CSF board so far has been tremendously valuable, and we appreciate him and the history we have with Western & Southern,” said Ned Hertzenberg, president of CSF for the last 35 years. “I am confident he is the right choice to lead the board as our organization grows to help more students receive financial assistance in pursuing their goal of a college education. ”
Schraffenberger joined Western & Southern in 2001, serving in positions with IFS and Western & Southern Life, another Western & Southern subsidiary. He was promoted to his current position with IFS in 2015. He earned a bachelor’s degree in advertising and public relations from Franklin College in Indiana and an MBA from Xavier University. He holds FINRA Series 6, 26 and 63 licenses.
“I am honored to help CSF fulfill its mission of helping students,” said Schraffenberger. “I am particularly eager to share CSF’s story with local businesses, schools and students, especially as it relates to the organization’s local economic impact.”
In April 2018, the University of Cincinnati Economics Center provided an analysis of the economic impact of CSF. It was noted that since its establishment in 1918, CSF has helped tens of thousands of students overcome financial barriers to attending college, as well as influence the labor force and fiscal base of its service area.
