Bringing free, family-friendly entertainment to about a half-million people, the Western & Southern/WEBN Fireworks is back on the Ohio River in Cincinnati. The 30-minute show is part of the Riverfest celebration traditionally held during Labor Day weekend in Cincinnati, and features Rozzi's Famous Fireworks choreographed to a WEBN soundtrack.
In 2020, Riverfest was cancelled due to the pandemic, but the fireworks show was held at a remote location and broadcast on local television station WKRC.
Western & Southern has been the fireworks co-title sponsor with local radio station WEBN (102.7 FM), an affiliate of iHeart Media, since 2015. The fireworks show, a Cincinnati tradition for 43 years, provides a vehicle for local charities to raise millions of dollars and generates about $20 million in revenue to the community. The 2019 Western & Southern/WEBN Fireworks raised almost $1.2 million for the Freestore Foodbank, equal to 3.5 million meals.
"Western & Southern has been and remains committed to making Cincinnati the best place to live, work and enjoy life," said John F. Barrett, president, chairman and chief executive officer of Western & Southern. "From our support of initiatives that promote health and higher education to our sponsorship of the Western & Southern Open tennis tournament, we continue to strive to make Cincinnati the most wonderful city in America. Our decision to partner with iHeart Media Cincinnati is another example of this commitment."
