On Dec. 6, The Salvation Army presented its esteemed William Booth award to Mark E. Caner, president, W&S Financial Group Distributors, Inc., for his outstanding contributions and dedication to The Salvation Army’s goal of service. This award is one of the highest honors the organization bestows on an individual.
“To say it is an honor doesn’t even begin to express how much it meant to me,” Caner said. “It brought tears of joy to me to receive such a distinguished award from such an exemplary organization.”
Caner, who has been involved with the organization since 2011, is the current chairman of The Salvation Army of Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky advisory board. Since taking the helm of the advisory board in 2019, he has led efforts to enhance the foundation of the board and drive an effective marketing campaign to broaden the organization’s notoriety in the metropolitan area.
“This award represents the positive advancement and sustaining impact these initiatives have had in our community,” Caner added.
Western & Southern is a longtime supporter of The Salvation Army through the Western & Southern Financial Fund, which matches the money collected at the Crib of the Nativity in Eden Park, and through our Spirit of Giving program. Two other W&S executives have also received the William Booth award — John F. Barrett in 2018 and Mario San Marco, retired president of Eagle Realty Group, in 2012.
